ajaramamaramastābhāvavastusvarūpaṃ | stimitasalilarāśiprakhyamākhyāvihīnam | śamitaguṇavikāraṃ śāśvataṃ śāntamekaṃ | hṛdi kalayati vidvānbrahma pūrṇaṃ samādhau ||
Ageless, deathless, the reality in which non-being has no place, like a vast expanse of still water, beyond name, in which the changes of the guṇas are stilled, eternal, peaceful, one: the wise one realises this full Brahman in the heart in samādhi.
Meaning today and context
Still water reflects clearly. When the mind's churning settles, one touches something that does not age or die, a deep source of calm in the face of change.
The guru, continuing his teaching to the disciple, completes the three verses describing Brahman realised in samādhi.
