Vivekachudamani 1.415

1.415 Guru to Disciple

samūlametatparidāhya vahnau | sadātmani brahmaṇi nirvikalpe | tataḥ svayaṃ nityaviśuddhabodhā | nandātmanā tiṣṭhati vidvariṣṭhaḥ ||

Having burned all this, root and all, in the fire of Brahman, the Self that is Being, free of distinctions, the best of the wise then abides by himself as the Self of ever-pure awareness and bliss.

Meaning today and context

Real change goes to the root. When the false sense of self is seen through at its source, peace no longer depends on keeping old thoughts at bay.

The guru, continuing his teaching to the disciple, describes the best of knowers who, having burned the body-identification at its root in the fire of Brahman, abides as pure awareness and bliss.
