Vivekachudamani 1.46

1.46 Guru to Disciple

śraddhābhaktidhyānayogānmumukṣoḥ | mukterhetūnvakti sākṣācchrutergīḥ | yo vā eteṣveva tiṣṭhatyamuṣya | mokṣo'vidyākalpitāddehabandhāt ||

Faith, devotion and the discipline of meditation: the word of scripture itself names these as the direct causes of liberation for the seeker. Whoever abides in these is freed from the bondage of the body, which ignorance has imagined.

Meaning today and context

Trust, love and steady attention together carry us further than any one of them alone. Practised daily, they loosen our identification with the body and its fears.
