Vivekachudamani 1.479

1.479 Shankaracharya

iti guruvacanācchrutipramāṇāt | paramavagamya satattvamātmayuktyā | praśamitakaraṇaḥ samāhitātmā | kvacidacalākṛtirātmaniṣṭhato'bhūt ||

Thus, through the guru's words and the authority of scripture, and by his own reasoning, he came to know the supreme truth; his senses stilled, his mind collected, he became motionless in form at some spot, established in the Self.

Meaning today and context

Teaching, scripture and one's own reflection together lead to stillness. The disciple shows what it looks like when understanding settles.

The narrator (the text, attributed to Shankaracharya) describes the disciple: hearing the guru, he realises the truth and becomes absorbed and motionless in the Self. The canonical speaker 'Guru' should be the narrator.
