Vivekachudamani 1.482

1.482 Disciple to Guru

vācā vaktumaśakyameva manasā mantuṃ na vā śakyate | svānandāmṛtapūrapūritaparabrahmāmbudhervaibhavam | ambhorāśiviśīrṇavārṣikaśilābhāvaṃ bhajanme mano | yasyāṃśāṃśalave vilīnamadhunānandātmanā nirvṛtam ||

The glory of the ocean of supreme Brahman, filled with the flood of the nectar of its own bliss, cannot be spoken by speech nor grasped by the mind. My mind, like a hailstone fallen into the sea, has melted into a tiny fraction of a fraction of it, and now rests fulfilled as bliss itself.

Meaning today and context

The image is of something small and separate dissolving into what it was always made of. For a person today it suggests that the anxious, separate 'me' is not the whole story, and that letting it soften is not a loss.

The disciple, risen from absorption, describes his realisation to the guru, saying the glory of Brahman cannot be spoken or even thought, and his mind has melted into it like a hailstone in the sea.
