1.488 Disciple to Guru

dhanyo'haṃ kṛtakṛtyo'haṃ vimukto'haṃ bhavagrahāt | nityānandasvarūpo'haṃ pūrṇo'haṃ tvadanugrahāt ||

I am blessed; I have done all there was to do; I am freed from the grip of worldly existence. I am of the nature of eternal bliss; I am whole, by your grace.

Meaning today and context

Many of us feel we are never 'done', always one achievement away from being enough. The verse speaks of a completeness that is not earned by the next goal but recognised; it can ease that endless sense of lack.

The disciple declares to the guru that by his grace he is blessed, fulfilled and free.
