Vivekachudamani 1.492

1.492 Disciple to Guru

nāhamidaṃ nāhamado'pyubhayoravabhāsakaṃ paraṃ śuddham | bāhyābhyantaraśūnyaṃ pūrṇaṃ brahmādvitīyamevāham ||

I am not this, nor am I that; I am the supreme, pure light that reveals both. Without inside or outside, full, I am Brahman alone, without a second.

Meaning today and context

Whatever you can point to, near ('this') or far ('that'), is something you are aware of, not the awareness itself. This simple turn of attention is the root of many meditation practices.

The disciple says he is neither 'this' nor 'that' but the pure light that reveals both.
