śailūṣo veṣasadbhāvā- bhāvayośca yathā pumān | tathaiva brahmavicchreṣṭhaḥ sadā brahmaiva nāparaḥ ||
As an actor remains the same man whether he wears his costume or not, so the best knower of Brahman is always Brahman and nothing else.

Our roles, as employee, parent, patient or achiever, are costumes we wear for a time. Playing them well while knowing they are not the whole of us brings great steadiness.
The guru compares the knower of Brahman to an actor who remains himself in or out of costume.
