जीर्णा एव मनोरथाश्च हृदये यातं च तद्यौवनं । हन्ताङ्गेषु गुणाश्च बन्ध्य-फलतां याता गुणज्ञैर्विना । किं युक्तं सहसाभ्युपैति बलवान्कालः कृतान्तोऽक्षमी । हा ज्ञातं मदनान्तकाङ्घ्रि-युगलं मुक्त्वास्ति नान्या गतिः ॥
jīrṇā eva manorathāśca hṛdaye yātaṃ ca tadyauvanaṃ | hantāṅgeṣu guṇāśca bandhya-phalatāṃ yātā guṇajñairvinā | kiṃ yuktaṃ sahasābhyupaiti balavānkālaḥ kṛtānto'kṣamī | hā jñātaṃ madanāntakāṅghri-yugalaṃ muktvāsti nānyā gatiḥ ||
My heart's desires have worn out, and that youth is gone; alas, the gifts of my limbs have borne no fruit, for want of those who could value them. Mighty Time, the unforgiving Ender, is coming on fast. What is fitting now? Ah, I know: there is no other refuge than the two feet of Shiva, destroyer of desire.
