na peyamudakaṃ rājanprāṇāniha parīpsatā | pārtha mā sāhasaṃ kārṣīrmama pūrvaparigrahaḥ | praśnānuktvā tu kaunteya tataḥ piba harasva ca ||
"This water must not be drunk here, king, by one who wants to keep his life. Son of Pritha, do not act rashly; this is already mine. Answer my questions first, son of Kunti, and then drink and carry [water] away."
