Yoga Sutras of Patanjali 2.36

2.36 Patanjali

satyapratiṣṭhāyāṃ kriyāphalāśrayatvam ||

When truthfulness is firmly established, actions and their fruits come to rest on [that person's word].

This is the sūtra's own claim about where the practice leads, not a guaranteed or measurable outcome.

Meaning today and context

Someone who never bends the truth becomes someone whose word carries weight; what they say can be relied on to happen. Trust is built by long consistency.

Result of established truthfulness. The sūtra is read in more than one way: that the truthful person's actions reliably bear fruit, or that their words come true.
