Chandogya Upanishad 8.3.4

8.3.4 Upanishadic seer

atha ya eṣa saṃprasādo'smāccharīrātsamutthāya paraṃ jyotirupasaṃpadya svena rūpeṇābhiniṣpadyata eṣa ātmeti hovāca | etadamṛtamabhayametadbrahmeti | tasya ha vā etasya brahmaṇo nāma satyamiti ||

Now this serene one, rising up from this body and reaching the highest light, appears in its own true form. 'That is the Self,' he said. 'That is the immortal, the fearless; that is Brahman.' And the name of this Brahman is 'the Real' (satyam).

Meaning today and context

Beneath the body's pressures and the mind's noise there is a serene self, and it is our true form. Its nature is fearlessness: to touch it is to find a steadiness that fear cannot shake.

Chandogya 8.3.4: the teacher describes the serene self that rises from the body, reaches the highest light and appears in its own form; Brahman's name is 'the Real'.
