tenādhītaṃ śrutaṃ tena tena sarvamanuṣṭhitam | yenāśāḥ pṛṣṭhataḥ kṛtvā nairāśyamavalambitam ||

He has studied, he has heard the teachings, he has accomplished everything, who has put his hopes behind him and taken refuge in freedom from expectation.

Here nairāśya means freedom from craving and expectation, not hopelessness. If you feel hopeless, please talk to someone: Tele-MANAS 14416.

Meaning today and context

Letting go of anxious hopes about what you will get is presented as the fruit of all learning. It is not despair, but freedom from being ruled by expectations.

Hiraṇyaka continues his reflection.
