Whoever has intelligence has strength; how can the witless have strength? See how the lion, drunk with pride, was brought down by a hare.

Meaning today and context

Clear thinking is a real form of strength. When you face someone more powerful, a calm, well-thought plan can do what force cannot; arrogance, meanwhile, blinds even the strong.

The crow tells his frightened mate that he can defeat the strong snake by wit, and begins the tale of the hare and the lion.
