Meaning today and context

People sometimes survive what seems unsurvivable, as Sañjīvaka did when abandoned. It is a reason not to give up on someone, or on yourself, in a bad situation.

Left behind in the forest, the lamed bull Sañjīvaka somehow gets up on three hooves and survives; the narrator comments on how life is preserved.
