avidyāyāṃ bahudhā vartamānā vayaṃ kṛtārthā ityabhimanyanti bālāḥ | yatkarmiṇo na pravedayanti rāgāttenāturāḥ kṣīṇalokāścyavante ||
Living in ignorance in many ways, the childish think, "We have reached our goal." Because those devoted to rites do not understand, owing to their attachment, they fall, in distress, when their worlds are used up.

Feeling that we have 'made it' is often the moment we stop asking. Anything gained by effort can be spent; resting on it leaves us exposed when it runs out.
Aṅgiras continues on those absorbed in ritual and its rewards (Mundaka 1.2.9): they feel accomplished, but their gains run out.
