Mundaka Upanishad 2.1.5

2.1.5 Angiras to Shaunaka

tasmādagniḥ samidho yasya sūryaḥ somātparjanya oṣadhayaḥ pṛthivyām | pumānretaḥ siñcati yoṣitāyāṃ bahvīḥ prajāḥ puruṣātsaṃprasūtāḥ ||

From him comes the fire whose fuel is the sun; from the moon comes rain; from rain, the plants on earth; the man pours his seed into the woman: so many creatures are born from the Person.

Meaning today and context

Sun, rain, food and the birth of a child are links in one chain of life; the verse invites reverence for ordinary processes we take for granted.

Aṅgiras traces the cycle of life back to the Person (Mundaka 2.1.5): heaven, rain, plants, food, and the birth of children all come from him.
