12.288.30 Hamsa to The Sadhyas

sarvānetānanucaranvatsavaccaturaḥ stanān | na pāvanatamaṃ kiṃ citsatyādadhyagamaṃ kva cit ||

Practising all of these, as a calf goes to all four teats, I have nowhere found anything more purifying than truth.

Meaning today and context

Of all the virtues, honesty is the one that cleans the rest. When in doubt about which to work on, begin with being truthful.

Mahabharata 12.288.30. The Swan: having practised all these virtues, like a calf drinking at all four teats, he found nothing more purifying than truth.
