In sound, touch and form, in smells and tastes, there is nothing beyond the enjoyment itself, whether for the rich or for one without wealth.

Meaning today and context

A rich man's meal or music is still just a meal or music; pleasures do not grow deeper with money. Much of what wealth promises, it cannot deliver.

Mahabharata 12.317.26. Narada to Shuka: in sound, touch, form, smell and taste, the rich get nothing beyond the experience itself, any more than the poor.
