Mokshadharma 12.171.32

vihariṣyāmyanāsaktaḥ sukhī lokānnirāmayaḥ | yathā mā tvaṃ punarnaivaṃ duḥkheṣu praṇidhāsyasi ||

I shall wander the worlds unattached, happy and free of affliction, so that you, Desire, will never again thrust me into sorrows like these.

Giving up desire here means inner freedom from craving, not leaving work, family, or the care of those who depend on you.

Meaning today and context

Freedom from craving is described as ease and health, a lighter way of moving through life. Many of our sorrows are ones our cravings pushed us into.

In the story Bhishma tells (12.171), Mankin speaks to himself and to Desire after losing his last wealth, continuing from 12.171.31: he will move through the world unattached and well, so Desire can never again throw him into such sorrows.
