Mokshadharma 12.171.33

tvayā hi me praṇunnasya gatiranyā na vidyate | tṛṣṇāśokaśramāṇāṃ hi tvaṃ kāma prabhavaḥ sadā ||

For when you drove me, I had no other way to go. You, Desire, are always the source of thirst, grief and exhaustion.

Meaning today and context

A lot of burnout and grief traces back to wanting: wanting more, wanting it to be otherwise. Seeing the source does not erase the pain, but it shows where relief can begin.

In the story Bhishma tells (12.171), Mankin speaks to himself and to Desire after losing his last wealth: driven by Desire he had no other course; Desire is the source of thirst, grief and exhaustion.
