Mokshadharma 12.173.3

12.173.3 Bhishma to Yudhishthira

prajñayā prāpitārtho hi baliraiśvaryasaṃkṣaye | prahrādo namucirmaṅkistasyāḥ kiṃ vidyate param ||

For it was by wisdom that Bali, when his sovereignty was lost, gained his end; so too Prahlada, Namuci and Manki. What is higher than wisdom?

Meaning today and context

People who lost everything and still found their way did it through understanding, not through what they owned. Losing a position is not the end if your judgment stays clear.

Mahabharata 12.173.3: Bhishma gives examples: kings and demon lords who lost power yet reached their goal through wisdom.
