Sanatsujatiya 1.10

1.10 Sanatsujata to Dhritarashtra

kāmānusārī puruṣaḥ kāmānanu vinaśyati | kāmānvyudasya dhunute yatkiṃ citpuruṣo rajaḥ ||

The man who runs after desires perishes along with his desires. Casting desires away, a man shakes off whatever dust [of passion] there is.

Meaning today and context

Chasing every want leaves us exhausted and lost. Letting go of what we don't need clears the mind, like dust shaken off a cloth.

Sanatsujata states a simple rule: the one who runs after desires perishes with them; the one who casts them off shakes off all the dust of passion.
