Sanatsujatiya 2.27

2.27 Sanatsujata to Dhritarashtra

tato yajñaḥ pratāyeta satyasyaivāvadhāraṇāt | manasānyasya bhavati vācānyasyota karmaṇā | saṃkalpasiddhaḥ puruṣaḥ saṃkalpānadhitiṣṭhati ||

So let sacrifice be performed through holding firmly to truth alone. For one it is by the mind, for another by speech, for another by action. The person whose resolve is fulfilled is master of his resolves.

Meaning today and context

Whatever we offer, in thought, word or deed, should stand on honesty. When mind, speech and action line up with truth, our intentions gain real power.

Sanatsujata says sacrifice should rest on a firm hold on truth; some offer it in mind, some in speech, some in action; the person whose intentions are realised commands his intentions.
