Sanatsujatiya 2.32

2.32 Sanatsujata to Dhritarashtra

abhijānāmi brāhmaṇamākhyātāraṃ vicakṣaṇam | yaśchinnavicikitsaḥ sannācaṣṭe sarvasaṃśayān ||

I recognise as a brahmin the discerning expounder who, his own doubts cut away, explains and resolves all doubts.

Meaning today and context

A good teacher is one who has worked through their own doubts and can therefore clear ours. Look for that clarity, not titles.

Sanatsujata defines the true teacher: a discerning expounder whose own doubts are cut, and who resolves all doubts.
