Sanatsujatiya 4.27

4.27 Sanatsujata to Dhritarashtra

ātmaiva sthānaṃ mama janma cātmā vedaprokto'hamajarapratiṣṭhaḥ ||

The Self alone is my dwelling, and the Self is my birth. I am the one proclaimed by the Vedas, established in what does not age.

Meaning today and context

Your truest home is not a place or a role but your own Self, which does not grow old. A person who knows this is at home anywhere.

A half-verse in which Sanatsujata, speaking as the Self, says the Self alone is his abode and his birth; he is the one taught in the Vedas, established in the unageing.
