Sanatsujatiya 4.28

4.28 Sanatsujata to Dhritarashtra

aṇoraṇīyānsumanāḥ sarvabhūteṣu jāgṛmi | pitaraṃ sarvabhūtānāṃ puṣkare nihitaṃ viduḥ ||

Finer than the finest, of kindly mind, I am awake in all beings. They know [me as] the father of all beings, set within the lotus [of the heart].

Meaning today and context

In every being, even when they sleep or forget, something stays awake and kindly. Remembering that in yourself and in others is where this whole teaching on death and immortality ends.

Sanatsujata closes the teaching: speaking as the Self, he says he is subtler than the subtlest and stays awake in all beings; the wise know him as the father of all, set in the lotus of the heart.
